The GIS Research Unit is participating with Konstantinos Soulis and Antonis Kavvadias in the European Mission Soil Week 2023 in Madrid (November 21-23), the annual significant European meeting focused on soil.
The relationship between Soil Science and GIS dates back to the 1960s.
The Laboratory of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry was the place where Geographic Information Systems (initially as Soil Information Systems, developed by Professor V. Kollia) were introduced and developed at the Agricultural University of Athens.
