Dr. Giasemi Morianou is an Environmental Engineer specializing in water resources management, smart irrigation technologies, soil–water interactions, and environmental modeling. She holds a Diploma in Environmental Engineering, an MSc in Water Resources Management and Climate Change, and a PhD from the Technical University of Crete. Her doctoral research focused on optimal water management in agriculture under climate change, combining innovative sensor technologies, field experimentation, and advanced numerical modeling tools to support sustainable agricultural practices.

She has extensive experience in European and national research projects, with expertise in soil hydraulic characterization, GIS-based environmental analysis, and precision irrigation strategies in Mediterranean agroecosystems. From 2017 to 2025, she worked as a Scientific Research Associate at the Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Plants and Viticulture of ELGO–DIMITRA, participating in research projects focused on irrigation optimization, good agricultural practices, and the development of decision-support systems for water management.

Her research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and presented at scientific conferences. She is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Agricultural University of Athens in the EU-funded project “Path4Med – Demonstrating innovative pathways addressing water and soil pollution in the Mediterranean Agro-Hydro-System”, and in the project “GREENSTORM – Design and development of nature-based stormwater management solutions for resilient and sustainable cities”.
